Public Marketspace defines small business owner as the president, sole proprietor or equal partner of a business that is privately owned and operated, with less than 100 employees. And for SEC purposes, domestic companies with revenues of under $25 million, and not investment companies. Subsidiaries of larger companies do not qualify as small businesses.
Public Marketspace also recognizes small business owners that are Franchise owners, hobbyists and anyone that files a 1099 form qualifying as “self employed.”
